Jennie Evans.
Jennie Evans is a North Georgia folk artist whose work has filled the walls of Sweet Combs of Honey for many years. She grew up on her father's chicken farm, and her earliest canvases were the salvaged tin pulled from those chicken houses — weathered metal that gave her barns, roosters and wading birds a rusted, honest ground.
Her folk style is unmistakable: heavy black outlines, thick impasto color, and a deep love of the fields, farms and creatures of our region. In recent years she has moved into mixed media, layering paint and texture into richer, more personal compositions.
In April of 2026, Jennie received a new heart — and the work she has made since is alive with that second chance. The pieces below trace that journey, from the tin of the chicken house to the bright, beating work of a new beginning.
Before
From the chicken house
Early work on salvaged tin — barns, roosters and wading birds, painted on the weathered metal of her father's farm.

After
A new heart
Mixed-media work made since her heart transplant in April 2026 — brighter, denser, and full of second chances.
